IN GOD'S WORD THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS...

IN GOD'S WORD THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS...

No such thing as a Gentile instructed to tithe.

No such thing as a person who God has called "a tither."

No such thing as an individual person required to tithe.

No such thing as tithing money (monetary tithing).

No such thing as tithes being levied against a person's income.

No such thing as any other nation that was required to tithe except the nation of  Israel.

No such thing as "New Testament tithing," "grace tithing," "love tithing," "faith tithing," "giving of a tithe" or "paying a tithe" ever instructed or commanded by God in the New Testament directed at any New Testament Believer.

No such thing as being instructed to tithe "because Abraham [Abram] tithed."

No such thing as an Apostle who instructed or commanded anyone to tithe.

No such thing as a church fellowship called a "storehouse to bring your tithe to."

No such thing as an apostle, a prophet, an evangelist, a pastor, a teacher or any other minister, a church, or any other person who can claim to own the tithe, that has a right to collect a tithe, or should be tithed to under the New Testament. All collection of any kind of tithe by the aforementioned is thievery.

No such thing as a doctrine or warning that a Christian must tithe or be sent to hell; anyone claiming so is a demonic liar. There is no need, and indeed is foolishness, to add anything to the cross, including tithing, to be saved. Anyone adding tithing as a requirement to be saved to the FINISHED WORK OF JESUS ON THE CROSS is a demonic liar, is preaching ANOTHER GOSPEL, AND IS CURSED.

No such thing as the early church practicing or teaching anyone to be involved in tithing.

No such thing as any New Testament Christian "robbing God" by not tithing.

No such thing as Malachi 3:10 instructing Christians to tithe.

No such thing as any scripture recording Jacob tithing anything to God or to anyone else.

No such thing as God acknowledging Jacob's claim that he was going to tithe or that God required Jacob to tithe.

No such thing as Hebrews chapter seven instructing a Christian to tithe.

No such thing as any tithe relative to the New Testament Believer that is not weak, unprofitable and disannulled (canceled).

No such thing as Matthew 23:23 or Luke 11:42 instructing a Christian to tithe.

No such thing as scripture instructing a Christian to tithe because Abraham or Jacob tithed, or the Nation of Israel was required to surrender the tithe to the Levites.

No such thing as a Christian needing to tithe in order to be blessed by God or have their needs met.

No such thing as Christian being cursed for not tithing.

No such thing as Christian needing to tithe in order to have the devourer rebuked for their sake.

No such thing as any tithe owned by the Levites, who having the tithe given to them by God, being taken from the Levites and given to anyone else under the Old or New Testament.

No such thing as any tithe commanded by God that did not consist of fruits, vegetables and clean animals, or the by products thereof such as wine or olive oil, originating from the Promise Land of Israel.

No such thing as a command by God to tithe before or after the Law of Moses.

No such thing as any command from God to "continue tithing" into the New Testament.

No such thing as a single word in the New Testament instructing anyone in any way shape or form to tithe anything to anyone.

No such thing as a "universal tithing principle applicable to all people at all times."

No such thing as any New Testament scripture instructing a Christian to tithe to any ministry.

SORRY TITHING TEACHERS AND "TITHERS;" THERE IS NO SUCH THING. YOU TITHING TEACHERS ARE DECEIVING LIARS, AND YOUR LIES WILL FIND YOU OUT SOMEDAY...YOU CAN COUNT ON IT;

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds; The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:"

   - 2nd Peter 2:1-9

"For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: WHO'S MOUTHS MUST BE STOPPED, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, FOR FILTHY LUCRE'S SAKE."

   - Titus 1:10-11

REBUKE THE DEVOURER FOR YOUR SAKE?

Tithing teachers will often attempt to deceive people into tithing to them (handing over 10% of their income) by claiming that by doing so God will "rebuke the devourer for your sakes."

The devourer, of course, being debt, financial problems, the devil, and anything the tither believes is being "devoured" (or taken from them) in their lives that they believe they should posses.

The scriptures tithing teachers refer to are these often used verses...

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts." - Malachi 3:10-11

The sad part of all of this is that for the New Testament Church, that is to say for New Testament Believers, God has already done something for us SO MUCH GREATER than merely rebuking a devourer for us based on Old Testament tithing instructions.

JESUS' TRIUMPH OVER DEATH, THE GRAVE AND HELL

We have no need to tithe in an attempt to motivate God to rebuke the devourer for us, God has done far more than that for us. God has handed satan THE ULTIMATE INFINATELY POWERFUL REBUKE which is eternal, utterly devastating and DID NOT REQUIRE ANYONE TO TITHE ANYTHING!

Satan, and anything he would attempt to use to devour us, has been rebuked FOREVER by Jesus' perfect sacrifice on the cross and Jesus' triumphant resurrection! There is NO STRONGER REBUKE POSSIBLE.

Concerning satan being rebuked by God, the word of God says this...

"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it." - Colossians 2:15 ...THAT IS WHAT I CALL A REBUKE!!

Colossians 2:15 states that Christ “disarmed the rulers and authorities.” To whom does this phrase refer? The combination of “rulers and authorities” appears elsewhere in Paul’s writings in reference to human authorities (See; Titus 3:1), but more often it applies to spiritual powers (See; Ephesians 3:10; 6:12). When we compare Colossians with Ephesians (its parallel epistle), we see that “thrones, dominions, rulers, and authorities” are obviously spiritual entities, whether angels or demons (See; Ephesians 1:21; 2:2; 3:10; 6:12).

The word of God also tells us this...

"Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might DESTROY the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery." - Hebrews 2:14-15

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." - Romans 8:37

CONCLUSION

If you are a New Testament Believer, YOU DO NOT NEED to give ten percent of your income TO ANYONE in order for God to give you victory over the devil, the devourer, or anything!

Anyone telling you that you must tithe to them, or to anyone, for God to give you victory IS A LIAR.

Satan, the devourer, has been eternally REBUKED for your sake, on your behalf, THAT IS ALREADY REALITY.

How do we live in the victory God has given us? By believing God's Word who tells us...

1 John 4:4...

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

1 John 5:4...

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

1 Corinthians 15:57...

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

DON'T TITHE TO ANYONE; all they're trying to do is sell you something GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN TO YOU AS A GIFT.

THE LEVITES AND THEIR LAND

Not long ago I had a brief debate with someone who claimed that the Levites had absolutely NO OWNERSHIP OF ANY LAND (and were not permitted to do so) in the Promise Land. He made it clear that the Levites were permitted to own NO LAND whatsoever, NOT ONE SQUARE INCH of land in the Land of Israel; they were to be completely disenfranchised of any land.

I keep all of my comments that I post on my laptop just in case I want to use them again, and reading what he said, I noticed that I had not answered his claim with a scripture reference clearly holding him in error.

The scripture he was referring to, and relying on to make his point that the Levites had no land at all, and were not permitted to own land, was Numbers 18:20-21 which reads...

"And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel. And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation."

The Law of Moses, of which Numbers 18:20-21 is part of, is telling the Levites that they will not have a specific section of the Land of Israel designated to them as an inheritance as did the other tribes of...

Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Benjamin, Joseph; (Ephraim, Manasseh).

Numbers 18:20-21 made it clear that the Levites would not have a specific Tribal Land designated to them (what we might call a "state," "territory" or "land grant") in the Land of Israel. One of the reasons for this is because the authority of the Levites in matters both civil and spiritual was not to be limited to any particular tribal territory. They would serve the entire Nation of Israel, serve and govern in all of the tribal inherited territories.

Not only were Levites permitted by Mosaic Law to own land, there were specific Laws that governed and protected their land, their homes and the land designated as "the cities of the Levites." Leviticus 25:32-34 tells us this...

"Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time. And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel. But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession."

>> Note the following important phrases;

> "cities of the Levites"

> "the houses of the cities of their possession"

> "And if a man purchase of the Levites"

> "the city of his possession"

> "cities of the Levites are their possession"

> "Levites are their possession among the children of Israel"

> "the field [land] of the suburbs of their [Levites] cities may not be sold; for it is their [Levites] perpetual possession"

Clearly the Levites could own land and not violate the Law of Moses. The Levitical cities were 48 cities in ancient Israel that were set aside for the tribe of Levi, who were not allocated their own territorial land when the Israelites entered the Promised Land.

I bring this up because recently I've read a couple of claims made by people teaching against tithing that one point you can make to disprove that a Pastor (or perhaps other ministers such as Evangelists) are not permitted to receive a tithe (for among other reasons)" because they own land" such as home or other land. That claim is NOT TRUE and is FALSE DOCTRINE. There was nothing in God's Word (i.e., The Law of Moses) prohibiting a Levite from receiving the tithe that he had inherited simply because he owned a home or another piece of land. Deuteronomy 18:8 is also evidence that Levites held property privately, though the tribe itself did not receive inheritances as did the other tribes did.

Concerning the Levites, Deuteronomy 18:8 says this..

"They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony." ("patrimony" - property inherited from one's father or male ancestor.)

Deuteronomy 18:1-7 tells us that while owning land, the Levite was to minister for the Lord their God, AND continue to receive that which God had given him...

"The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance. Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.""

Note; "and his inheritance." Question; What did the Levite inherit? ...the tithes of all of Israel (see - Numbers 18:20-24).

Continuing with Deuteronomy 18:1-7...

"And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw. The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever. And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose; Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD." - Deuteronomy 18:1-7

One major point of fact that the person I was debating had missed is that Numbers 18:20-24 says the Levite would have NO INHERITANCE of land, but says NOTHING concerning any prohibition of a Levite, as with any other person from the tribes, from BUYING LAND and owning it.

CONCLUSION

The Levites, while not receiving a territorial land grant in the Land of Israel, could and did own land while lawfully continuing to minister and receive tithes. Claiming that a pastor or other minister cannot receive a tithe if they own land is FALSE.

There are many other reasons why tithing is not a New Testament commandment to any Christian Believer, and that no pastor has the right to demand or receive tithes, but a prohibition against owning land is NOT one of them.

Also, pastors are not Levites, and even if tithing was still enforce, the "own land, no tithe" clause would not apply because such a clause doesn't exist.

We must remember to keep ALL scripture in proper context and permit scripture to interpret scripture.

STOREHOUSE TITHING?...THREE FACTS ABOUT TITHING (not well liked by tithers or tithing teachers)...

STOREHOUSE TITHING?...THREE FACTS ABOUT TITHING (not well liked by tithers or tithing teachers)...

>> 1. The NON-Levites were permitted to bring OFFERINGS to the Temple / Storehouse (chambers) and present them to the Priests...

"And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God;" - Nehemiah 10:27(a)

>> 2. But, the NON-Levites were NOT authorized to bring the tithe (i.e., the tithe of the tithe) to the Temple / Storehouse (chambers) and present them to the Priests...

"and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house." - Nehemiah 10:27(b)-38

The Levites, accompanied by, and managed by a Priest descended from Aaron, were to take the tithe of the land from their brethren (see; Hebrews 7:5) at the cities of their tillage, and were to transport 1/10th of the tithe to the Temple / Storehouse (chambers). (see; Malachi 2:1, Malachi 3:8-10)

>> 3. If the NON-Levites attempted to "bring a tithe to the Temple / Storehouse (chambers)," they would bare sin and die.

IN THE CLEAR CONTEXT OF TITHING; this is found in Numbers 18:21-22...

"And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth [the tithe] in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die." ..."BEAR SIN, AND DIE."

With an exception of the Levites accompanied by a Priest descended from Aaron, the people of the Nation of Israel, God's people, were NOT authorized by God to bring any tithes to the Temple / Storehouse. God's Word makes it clear that the only Children of Israel that were to bring any portion of the tithe to the Temple / Storehouse were the Levites with Priests descended from Aaron. The remaining tribes were forbidden to approach ("come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation") the House of God with their tithes.

CONCLUSION;

The NON-Levites could bring an offering to the Priest/Temple/Chambers or Temple Storehouse, but were NOT permitted to bring any tithe to the Temple Storehouse lest they bare sin and DIE. So much for the modern false and faddish unbiblical teaching of "storehouse tithing" falsely taught by tithing teachers to Christians.

I believe that God says what He means and means what He says. DON'T ALTER OR ADD TO GOD'S HOLY WORD!...

"You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you." - Deuteronomy 4:2

"Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it." - Deuteronomy 12:32

"And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding; They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;" - Nehemiah 10:28-29

"Recognizing the importance of storehouse tithing"

The Church of the Nazarene in their "manual" states the following;

"Storehouse Tithing. Storehouse tithing is a scriptural and practical performance of faithfully and regularly placing the tithe into that church to which the member belongs. Therefore, the financing of the church shall be based on the plan of storehouse tithing, and the local Church of the Nazarene shall be regarded by all of its people as the storehouse. All who are a part of the Church of the Nazarene are urged to contribute faithfully one-tenth of all their increase as a minimum financial obligation to the Lord and freewill offerings in addition as God has prospered them for the support of the whole church, local, district, educational, and general. The tithe, provided to the local Church of the Nazarene, shall be considered a priority over all other giving opportunities which God may lay upon the hearts of His faithful stewards, in support of the whole church."

Paying Close Attention to Scripture

Almost all tithing teachers rely on and abuse the Book of Malachi to promote their false doctrine of "tithing for Christians." They will routinely quote Malachi 3:8-10...

"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

...and, by quoting Malachi 3:8-10, convince and deceive their followers into believing that this passage of scripture is "absolute proof" that as Christians they are commanded to tithe.

Sadly, as with all false teachers, they are cherry picking scripture, that is to say, quoting bits and pieces of scripture out of context, or quoting scripture in isolation from other scriptures which would render their interpretation of the isolated scripture in error. As Malachi continued in writing, placing Malachi 3:8-10 back in proper context, Malachi makes this statement...

"Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments." - Malachi 4:4

That statement by Malachi, Malachi 4:4, firmly identifies Malachi's commandment to "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse" as a commandment of the Law of Moses; that fact could not be clearer. When Malachi wrote Malachi 4:4, the Nation of Israel, descendants of Abraham and Sarah, had the Law of Moses as their national law, it was, so to speak, their "Federal Law."

The Nation of Israel being under Law of Moses when Malachi was writing (or sometimes called "The Law," or "The Torah") leads to several facts tithing teachers tend to avoid when quoting Malachi in their teachings on tithing, and they are these...

>> 1. Christians, Believers under the New Testament, are NOT under the Law.  Malachi 3:8-10 does NOT apply to New Testament Christians, and is NOT a commandment to Christians to be involved in any form of tithing.

"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." - Romans 6:14

"But now we are DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter." - Romans 7:6

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster." - Galatians 3:24-25

"Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave NO such commandment:" - Acts 15:24

>> 2. If Christians were under The Law, in order to keep from being cursed, they would have to perfectly obey ALL of the Law at all times never once failing to do so. Failing in one point one time results in curses and damnation...

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend on one point, he is guilty of all." - James 2:10

Also, Deuteronomy tells us...

"Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen." - Deuteronomy 27:26

>> 3. God has never held Gentile nations or Gentile people to live under the Law of Moses...

"He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD." - Psalm 147:19-20

>> 4. If a Christian, or anyone, is attempting to "tithe" pursuant to Malachi 3:8-10, they are placing themselves back under the Law, subject to the curse of the Law, and are involved in works of the Law and are NOT of faith...

"However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "HE WHO PRACTICES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM." - Galatians 3:12

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9

"because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin." - Romans 3:20

>> 5. Malachi 4:4 is CLEARLY a game changer for tithing teachers who lie, abuse scripture, and deceive their followers. It changes the game, or the situation, from lies to the truth.

We as Believers, under grace, are NOT under the Law, and Malachi's call to tithe, being a commandment of the Law, does NOT apply to Christians. To claim that Malachi 3:8-10 is instructions for a Christian to tithe IS A LIE and a DOCTRINE OF DEVILS taught by men and women who are deceivers. Text taken out of context is a pre-text to deceptive text. The word of God is not deceptive, but can be quoted and used in a deceptive manner.

We are to be free will givers, NOT tithers, giving as we are encouraged by God's Spirit to do so.

>>> Final thought; we are warned...

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they draw to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto myths." - 2 Timothy 4:3

And...

"For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: WHO's MOUTHS MUST BE STOPPED, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for FILTHY LUCRE'S SAKE (money derived through lies and deception)." - Titus 1:10-11

"Abraham our father tithed. It's by faith" ??

 ON FAITH...

"Abraham our father tithed. It's by faith"

ANSWER...

To begin with, you CANNOT "tithe like Abraham by faith," because ALL ACTS OF FAITH...ALL OF THEM... must be pursuant to a PROMISE OF GOD or a COMMANDMENT OF GOD.

Concerning Abraham tithing; there is neither a command to tithe as Abraham did found anywhere in God's Word given to any, neither Jew or Gentile, neither Old or New Testament Believer, nor is there any reward from God for tithing because Abraham did found anywhere in God's Word.

If you have no command or promise from God, NO FAITH IS POSSIBLE. Deception and confusion, yes; faith, NO!

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17

NOTE: "HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD" ...THE WORD OF GOD!

REPEAT; THERE IS NOT ONE WORD OF A COMMAND TO ANY CHRISTIAN TO TITHE BECAUSE ABRAHAM DID, AND THERE EXISTS IN GOD'S WORD NO PROMISE TO ANY CHRISTIAN OF ANY KIND IF THEY WERE TO TITHE BECAUSE ABRAHAM DID.

ON TITHING...

There He Receiveth Them

It is a Biblical fact that we have Scripture that commands tithing to Levites living in the Promised Land. But there is not one single Scripture that states one is to tithe to an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor or Teacher in a New Testament Church.

Many claim that tithing is valid based on the following verse…

Hebrews 7:8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

Here, men that die receive tithes. Who are the men that die in this verse? Many automatically assume that this is referring to pastoral staff in the local church. It is not. Rather, it is referring to the sons of Levi. Verse 5 shows the context of verse 8,…

Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

Who are the receivers of the tithe in Hebrews 7:8? The sons of Levi in Hebrews 7:5. The sons of Levi have the command to take tithes. So, naturally…they are the ones who receive them.

And what tithes do the sons of Levi take and receive? The tithes according to the Law.

Leviticus 27:30-34 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

1. The Levites are to receive the tithes of the seed of the land. This is speaking of food from the fields. Food for the sustenance of the Levitic tribe of Israel because among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. (see Numbers 18:21-23)

2. They receive tithes of the fruit of the tree. This is speaking of that which grows on trees and the oils and juices those fruits produce, such as pomegranates, dates, olives, and figs. Again, for the sustenance of the Levitic tribe of Israel because among the children of Israel they have no inheritance..

3. They receive tithes of the flocks and herds in Israel. Animals born in the stalls and in the pastures were to be tithed from. Every tenth animal to pass under the herder’s counting rod was to be given to God as tithe.

4. They were to receive tithes of the children of Israel. There was no command for peoples of Gentile nations to travel to Israel to tithe. Nor was there a command from God for peoples of Gentile nations to tithe in their own lands. God gave the command to tithe solely to the children of Isreal. (see Leviticus 27:30-34 & Psalms 147:19-20)

Numbers 18:21-23 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. 23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. (Notice that verse 22 reveals that the children of Israel, aka the congregation, were not even to tithe to the House of God)

Psalm 147:19-20 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.

The tithes “according to the Law” (Heb. 7:5) were agricultural. There is no other type of tithe commanded by God in the Bible.

God is not the one commanding or demanding the monetary tithe that men preach in religious institutions today. Nor is He the one receiving the monetary tithes that are taken up in collection plates each Sunday. He never authorized any man to preach or teach a monetary tithe requirement doctrine.

The Book of Hebrews was written in AD 66. The Temple was still standing. In AD 70 when General Titus invaded Jerusalem, the Temple and the Storehouse attached to it were destroyed. Since then, there has been no collection of tithes by Levites in Israel.

Some Tithing Teachers Tell Us That Abraham Is To Be Our Example As To How To Tithe

If Abraham is to be our example as to how to tithe; Abraham tithed to Melchizedek...TO MELCHIZEDEK; where has any minister, or anyone else, been given by God the right to collect tithes for Melchizedek? Chapter and verse requested.

Funny how the tithes they collect never seem to get to Melchizedek, but somehow make it into their own bank accounts.
