NO COMMAND TO TITHE

NO COMMAND TO TITHE; no command to hand over ten percent of your income to anyone.

SCRIPTURE OVERVIEW...

Matthew 23:23 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

...Jesus rebuking Jews under the Law of Moses, not the New Testament Church. The New Testament Church is not directed to "these ought ye to have done" ... "not to leave the other undone" concerning the Law of Moses. NO COMMAND TO A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE.

Luke 11:42 - "But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

...Jesus rebuking Jews under the Law of Moses, not the New Testament Church. The New Testament Church is not directed to "these ought ye to have done" ... "not to leave the other undone" concerning the Law of Moses. NO COMMAND TO A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE.

Luke 18:12 - "I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess."

...This is a parable speaking of the prideful boasting of the Pharisees, not a command to hand over ten percent of your income to a church to a New Testament Christian; Luke 18:11 - "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican." Jesus said this Pharisee was not justified; Luke 18:14 - "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." NO COMMAND TO A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE.

Hebrews 7:5 - "And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:"

...Yet another scripture verse that reveals that tithing was a matter of (govern by) the Law of Moses; "a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law." Christians are not under the Law of Moses; Acts 15:24 - "Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:" ... Romans 6:14  - "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." NO COMMAND TO A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE.

Hebrews 7:6 - "But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises."

...This scripture contains no mandate or instructions to New Testament Christians regarding tithing. NO COMMAND TO A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE.

Hebrews 7:8 - "And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth."

...This scripture contains no mandate or instructions to New Testament Christians regarding tithing, or that a Christian must tithe. It does, however, record Abraham tithing to Melchisedec proving that Melchisedec's priesthood is superior to the Levite priesthood; Hebrews 7:7 - "And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better."

Hebrews 7:9 - "And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham."

...Clarifies Hebrews 7:8 and reveals that the Levites tithed to Melchisedec through Abraham; continues to prove that Melchisedec's priesthood is superior to the Levite priesthood. NO COMMAND TO A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE.

NO SCRIPTURE records Jacob tithing anything to anyone. Even if Jacob would have tithed, it would have been based on A VOW HE MADE UP, NOT a commandment or instructions of God.  NO SCRIPTURE cites Jacob as tithing, or a reason to tithe, or an example of tithing to be followed.

NO SCRIPTURE records Abraham being given a  commandment or instructions from God to tithe, or that he tithed by faith, or expected anything back for tithing, or that he did so other than one time to Melchisedec, or any other lies and garbage taught by false tithing teachers.

NO SCRIPTURE cites Abraham as a reason to tithe or an example of tithing to be followed.

Abraham tithed the spoils of war, not his personal property or income (Hebrews 7:4). To further prove this point, Abraham did not tithe the one thousand pieces of silver he received from Abimelech (Genesis 20:16). If monetary tithing were such an important doctrine; then, Abraham would have taught it to both Isaac and Jacob. The very fact Jacob vows to give a tenth proves he was not taught to tithe (Genesis 28:20-22). Vows are made for a future practice. Jacob should have already been tithing.
