TAKING MATTHEW 23:23 OUT OF CONTEXT TO PROVE YOUR FALSE CLAIM THAT "JESUS AFFIRMS CHRISTIAN TITHING" INSTRUCTS A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE

TAKING MATTHEW 23:23 OUT OF CONTEXT TO PROVE YOUR FALSE CLAIM THAT "JESUS AFFIRMS CHRISTIAN TITHING" INSTRUCTS A CHRISTIAN TO TITHE

Matthew 23:23 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

DON'T IGNORE THE CONTEXT

No scripture is to be interpreted outside of the context of all other scripture, as scripture tells us;

2 Peter 1:20 - "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation."

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

You cannot conveniently separate and isolate Matthew 23:23 from the remaining verses of Matthew Chapter 23. If Matthew 23:23 is written to the church "affirming Christian tithing," then in proper context, respecting the context, this is also addressing the Body of Christ affirming the following by Jesus...

The Body of Christ is a hypocrite; Matthew 23:3 - "All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not."

The Body of Christ burdens people down with heavy burdens; Matthew 23:4 - "For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers."

The Body of Christ are terribly egotistical, and are braggarts; Matthew 23:5-7 - "But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi."

The Body of Christ closes the door to people who would seek to enter heaven; Matthew 23:13 - "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in."

The Body of Christ is a hypocrite who devour widows' houses and worse, making people children of hell; Matthew 23:14-15 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves."

The Body of Christ are fools and blind; Matthew 23:17 - "Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?"

The Body of Christ is a blind guide; Matthew 23:24 - "Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel."

The Body of Christ is full of extortion and excess; Matthew 23:25 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess."

The Body of Christ is a whited sepulchres, full of dead men's bones; Matthew 23:27 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness."

The Body of Christ is a builder of tombs of the prophets, and graves of righteous; Matthew 23:29 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,"

The Body of Christ are children of them which killed the prophets; Matthew 23:31 - "Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets."

The Body of Christ are serpents and a generation of vipers; Matthew 23:33-34 - "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:"

The Body of Christ is full of hypocrisy and iniquity; Matthew 23:28 - "Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity."

THE BODY OF CHRIST FACING DAMNATION

If Matthew 23:23 is addressing the Body of Christ, then the Body of Christ is facing damnation and are serpents and a generation of vipers; Matthew 23:33-34  Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

ADDITIONALLY

The context of the "ought to have done" in Matthew 23:23, often quoted by tithing teachers and their so-called "tithers," in a false claim that Jesus is commanding New Testament Christians to "tithe," was IN FACT a commandment to DO the Law of Moses. The phrase "and not to leave the other undone" is also a commandment to DO the Law of Moses.

NEW TESTAMENT CHRISTIANS ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW OF MOSES, and have no commandment to tithe anything to anyone.

Hebrews 7:18-19 - "For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God."

Acts 15:24 - "Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:"

Ephesians 2:15 - "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;"

CONCLUSION

Matthew 23:23 is not addressing the Body of Christ, and is not affirmation of so-called "Christian tithing," or "New Testament tithing."

QUESTIONS INTENDED TO DECEIVE

QUESTIONS INTENDED TO DECEIVE;

Genesis 3:1 - "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made...Yea, hath God said...?"

Answering deceptive questions from tithing teachers intended to deceive and confuse;

"Will tithing send you to hell?" ...  No, and neither will not tithing.

"Is it a sin to tithe?" ...  Yes, since God has abolished tithing, it's a sin. Tithing abolished; Ephesians 2:15, Hebrews 7:18-19.

"Did Jesus preach against tithing?" ...  No, and Jesus did not preach against animal sacrifices; sacrifice any animals lately?

"Where did Jesus tell us to stop tithing?" ...  Nowhere, because Jesus has never issued a command to the Church to begin tithing.

"Tithing doesn't have to be instructed in the New Testament because God already told us to tithe in the Old Testament." ...  Says no scripture in God's word. And, who is "us?"

"It's not your money; why do you care if we tithe our money?"  ...  Moot point; God's Holy Tithe was never money; Lev. 27:30, 32, Num. 18:27, Num. 18:28, Deut 12:17, Deut. 14:22, Deut. 14:23, Deut. 24:21, Deut. 26:12, 2 Chron. 31:5, 2 Chron. 31:6, Neh. 10:37, Neh. 13:5, Mal. 3:10, Matt. 23:23 and Luke 11:42.

Note: 31 times in 17 verses in the Bible, God's Word states the tithe is declared to be fruits, vegetables and clean animals from the Promise Land, and 14 times that we have listed below, God's Word records the use of money over a long period of time

Verses confirming they had money from income, yet no scriptural reference records money being used for tithing...

Genesis 23;12-16, Exodus 38:28, Leviticus 5:15, Leviticus 27:3, Leviticus 27:4, Leviticus 27:5, Leviticus 27:6, Leviticus 27:7, Leviticus 27:16, Numbers 3:47, Numbers 3:50, Matthew 21:12-13, Mark 12:41-42, Acts 8:20.

"Tithing was before the law, Abraham tithed before the law."  ...  Animals were sacrificed before the law; sacrifice any animals lately?

"I give my tithe freely!" ... What percent is this? 2 Corinthians 9:7 - "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

"I tithe because the Bible says so!" ...  The New Testament is a Covenant of commands and promises; it contains no component, command or promise regarding Christians being required to tithe. If you believe it does, please provide that scripture.

THE DECEPTION

A deceptive question is most commonly called a "loaded question" or a "trick question." These queries are designed to mislead the listener by embedding a false or unproven assumption within the question, making any direct answer seem like an admission of guilt or agreement.

Key Terms and Types...

Loaded Question: Contains an unjustified assumption (e.g., "Why do you hate freedom?"), forcing the recipient to defend themselves rather than answer.

Complex Question Fallacy: Known as plurium interrogationum, this involves asking multiple questions at once to trap the respondent.

Trick Question: A question that uses misleading language or logic to prompt an incorrect answer.

Leading Question: Frequently used in legal contexts to prompt a specific answer, often deemed inappropriate in examinations.

DECONSTRUCTING QUESTION

The deconstructing question is asked to trap a person into agreeing to do something because they can't respond with an answer, a logical refutation as to why something should not be done or why some behavior should not be engaged in. Tithing teachers will often ask; "Wasn't tithing in practice before law?" inferring that because there is a record of tithing (Genesis 14) before the law, the Law of Moses, it should continue after the law into the New Testament. The simple response is this; How does tithing being in existence before the law prove it should continue after the law? In fact it doesn't.

CONCLUSION

Jude 1:12 - "These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;"

Romans - "16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple."

How to Address Them; The best way to address these questions and comments is by pointing out the false assumption, or by identifying and calling out the false premise.

Ephesians 5:11 - "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."

THE FOOLISH QUESTIONS AND CLAIMS OF TITHERS

THE FOOLISH QUESTIONS AND CLAIMS OF TITHERS

Lamentations 3:37 - "Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?"

We see them everyday!

We often read comments from "tithers" who believe that their questions and claims "prove that a Christian should be tithing." Questions they believe cannot be answered without affirming "New Testament tithing." As often said, NOTHING could be further from the truth. Their questions in fact expose their ignorance.

Typical questions and comments are; "Will tithing send you to hell?" ...  "Is it a sin to tithe?" ...  "Did Jesus preach against tithing?" ... "Where did Jesus tell us to stop tithing?" ...  "Tithing doesn't have to be instructed in the New Testament because God already told us to tithe in the Old Testament." (obvious question; Who is the "us" who has been told to tithe? ...not Gentiles, not the Church... "He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the Lord." - Psalm 147:19-20)

These questions are asked in the foolish belief that they "prove that a Christian should tithe," that is to say that a Christian must hand over ten percent of their income to a church or minister. They are asked, and the comments are made to fool the simple minded and the ignorant. They are used in the hope that the deceived Christian will not follow the example in Acts 17:11 which tells us that "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

THIS RESEARCH GROUP

We have never claimed that a person will end up in hell by tithing, yet such a question offers no proof that a Christian should be tithing, no proof that the New Testament includes a requirement to tithe. In regards to "is it a sin to tithe?" ...anything God has abolished should not be practiced and is a violation of God's word and therefore it is sin. Did Jesus preach against tithing? ...of course not; He didn't preach against sacrificing clean animals either; should that practice continue because Jesus did not preach against it? Obviously not!

Where did Jesus tell us to stop tithing? ...why would Jesus instruct a Christian to stop tithing when no scripture records Jesus instructing the Church to tithe in the first place? Matthew 23:23 records Jesus rebuking the scribes and Pharisees of the nation of Israel who Jesus truthfully called hypocrites! If Matthew 23:23 applies to the New Testament Church, then so does the remaining chapter which would refer to the Church as;

Hypocrites, burdening people down with heavy burdens, terribly egotistical, and are braggarts, closing the door to people who would seek to enter heaven, devour widows' houses and worse, making people twice the children of hell that the church is, are fools and blind, are blind guide, full of extortion and excess, are whited sepulchres, builder of tombs of the prophets, and graves of righteous, are serpents and a generation of vipers, full of hypocrisy and iniquity...etc. ERGO; READ THE WHOLE CHAPTER, stop taking scripture out of proper context as tithing teachers clearly do to deceive the foolish and unlearned!

TITHING BEFORE THE LAW

They tell us "tithing was practiced before the law (before the Law of Moses) such as by Abraham, yet offer no proof that Abraham's singular tithe is an instruction to tithe to be found continued into the New Testament. They ignore that Abraham handed over the remaining of the spoils of war (less what his men took) to a pagan king? (see; Hebrews 7:4, Genesis 14:22-24). Why are you tithers who are basing your tithing on Abraham not handing over the remainder of your income to pagans keeping non for yourselves, regarding it not your property as Abraham did?

As noted above; tithers further tell us tithing doesn't have to be instructed in the New Testament because already told us to tithe in the Old Testament. The New Testament is a Covenant established by God (see; Hebrews 9:15, Hebrews 9:16), therefore any requirement, command or promise for the saved Believer to follow must be clearly stated in the terms and conditions of the Covenant. No form of a requirement to tithe is to be found in the New Testament. Any requirement of any of form tithing has been cancelled by the New Testament, clearly stated in these scriptures;

2 Corinthians 3:13 - "And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:"

Additionally; there is no sculpture of any Apostle teaching the New Testament church to tithe anything to anyone. No Apostle taught tithing, rebuked a church for not tithing. No Apostle received a tithe, paid a tithe or instructed the church on how to tithe. The New Testament, AKA; the New Covenant is absolutely VOID of any command, outline of terms, examples or principles of tithing to be followed.

CONCLUSION

Reliance on such illogical and foolish questions and claims by tithers and tithing teachers listed above only leads to confusion, deception, false unbiblical practices and false doctrine. Such questions, comments and claims are clearly intended to fool the foolish and keep the simpleton ignorant of the truth by way of deception, or as God's word tells us in the scriptures;

Romans 16:18 - "For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple."

The word of God warns against foolish questions and comments;

1 Timothy 4:7 - "But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness."

We are instructed not to tolerate the questions and comments of fools;

Proverbs 26:4-5 - "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit."

We are, however, to answer a fool with the wisdom of God's word;

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

As we mentioned above...

Lamentations 3:37 - "Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?"

When God has NOT commanded tithing to New Testament Believers, who are we to command it?...

Deuteronomy 12:32 - "What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."

Proverbs 30:6 - "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

TEN DECEIVING ATTRIBUTES OF A MODERN DAY TITHER

TEN DECEIVING ATTRIBUTES OF A MODERN DAY TITHER

These are people we see in this group virtually everyday...

1. They ignore proper context of scripture. Case in point; they quote Malachi 3:10, yet ignore Malachi 3:7, Malachi 4:4 and Malachi 3:15, not to mention dozens of other scriptures that help explain the proper context of Malachi 3:10 such as Nehemiah 10:38-39 and more. In the case of Nehemiah 10:38-39, it states that only a tenth of the tithe was brought to the Temple Storehouse; that fact is ignored.

They are often guilty of quoting scripture cherry picked (scripture deliberately isolated from proper context) and twisted in an attempt to make it say what they want it to say; many times their interpretation is wildly illogical while ignoring context.

2. They follow the tithing traditions of men while they reject the word of God, as Jesus warned about here; Mark 7:13 which tells us "Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye." ...they falsely believe that "tithing will make me personally rich" when the Word of God makes no such promise.

They tend to be deceived by deceptive nonsense such as "90 day tithe challenges," "tithing will make you rich" or false claims from tithing teaches such as "the discovery of the covenant of tithing" which is found nowhere in the New Testament.

3. They attempt to use foolish, emotional and illogical arguments, comments or questions designed to support a false fantasy monetary tithing system such as; "is it a sin to tithe?" ... "Where did tithing end?" ... "I tithe because I love God" ... "If we don't tithe, how will the church be supported?"... "Did Jesus prohibit tithing? ... "I will tithe and I don't care what you say" ... "are you anti-tithers really saved?"... "tithing was practiced before the law" (which logically proves nothing) in response to a mountain of scriptural proof that no command to tithe exists under the New Testament.

4. They refuse to be corrected by God's word in violation of 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which tells us "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

5. They have a deceptive religious spirit within themselves, usually manifested by an anger at anyone scripturally proving their claims concerning tithing to be in error, unable to answer simple and obvious questions such as;

God gave the tithe to the Levites, it was their personal property and inheritance. See Numbers 18 21-24. Where did God take the tithe from the tribe of Levi and give it to your church or pastor? Chapter and verse please.

Or;

Where does the New Testament instruct a Christian to hand over ten percent of their income to a church or minister? Chapter and verse please.

...such questions are avoided and ignored as a way of defending themselves from having their beliefs challenged. They refuse to let God's word renew their minds on the truth, they refuse to think clearly.

6. They are in denial, preferring fantasy over reality, and exhibit strong Cognitive Dissonance; Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It creates a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore, and even deny anything that doesn't fit in with that core belief.

7. They see authoritative Biblical teaching clearly refuting any claim of "New Testament tithing" as a personal threat to them. Usually exhibited by a fear that by not tithing they will lose blessings, will anger God, will be cursed, and some cases a false demonic belief that they are "robbing God by not tithing," and in some extreme cases, a fear that failing to tithe will condemn them to hell.

8. In the case of pastors and other ministers promoting their false tithing doctrines, many of them view solid Biblical teaching on tithing, which (tithing) has been abolished (see Ephesians 2:15, Hebrews 7:18-19), as a direct threat to their personal monetary income.

They, and those who "tithe" to them are exposed here; Romans 16:18 which says "For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." And, they (tithing teachers) are warned here; 2 Peter 2:2-3 which says "And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."

9. They tend to view Christianity (following Jesus Christ) as unthinkable without tithing. They fail to separate tithing from the New Covenant, believing that they are more or less one and the same. As scripture tells us; Hebrews 8:6 "But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises." ...which does not include any form of tithing. They often believe that "tithing is a foundation of Christianity, and without tithing you cannot practice Christianity.

Additionally; they tend to believe that if a person is a pastor (especially one they are loyal to, or displays a degree of monetary wealth and fame) and teaches from the pulpit "they must be teaching the truth," completely ignoring Acts 17:11 which says "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." They also ignore 1 John 4:1 which says "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

10. They tend to merge Old Testament commands and promises into the New Testament such as Malachi 3:10 ignoring the fact that the Book of Malachi, including Malachi 3:10, was written and directed to the Nation of Israel under the Law of Moses (See; Malachi 1:1, 1:6, 2:1, 3:7, 4:4), The New Testament Church is NOT the Nation of Israel and the New Testament Church is NOT under the Law of Moses (See; Acts 15:24, Romans 6:14, Galatians 3:10) and has NO commandment to tithe anything to anyone.

CONCLUSION

Sadly, with many who have been deceived into the false modern day money tithing deception, they are willfully blind and are spoken of here;

2 Timothy 4:3-4 - "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

And, here;

Hebrews 5:11-13 - "Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe."

Jesus described them here;

Matthew 13:3-7 - "And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:"

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, GOT THE SCRIPTURES

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, GOT THE SCRIPTURES

Before you decide to make the following claim that these scriptures (see below) instruct Christians to tithe; be informed that we have strongly refuted such claims repeatedly over and over again. Take some advice; don't waste your time trying to claim it again, you won't get very far.

THE SCRIPTURES

>>> False claim; "Hebrews 7:8 is instructing Christian to tithe."

>> Hebrews 7:8-9 - "And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham."

>> Answer; Hebrews 7:8-9 clearly states that it was in Abraham that the Law of Moses, ergo; the Levite Law givers representing the Law of Moses were tithing to Melchisedec, thus proving the superiority of the Order and Priesthood of Melchisedec over the inferior priesthood of the Levites (Hebrews 7:7). The New Testament Church is not the Law of Moses, is not representing the Levites, has no need to prove the superiority of the Order and Priesthood of Melchisedec, and has no command to tithe anything to anyone. The Ordinances (i.e.; Law of Moses), which included tithing, have been abolished (See Ephesians 2:15, Malachi 3:7). The Levites took tithes under the Law of Moses, that is not a New Testament command to take tithes of New Testament Believers (See Acts 15:24, Hebrews 7:5). The transaction in Hebrews 7:8 accomplished what God needed it to accomplish. No further tithing is required, commanded, needed or is of any value.

>>> False claim; "Matthew 23:23 is instructions from Jesus to Christians to tithe."

>> Answer; The phrase "and not to leave the other undone." is pursuant to, and a command of the Law of Moses; "the weightier matters of the law." Christians are not under the Law of Moses and have no commandment from the Law of Moses, or the New Testament to tithe anything to anyone. (See Acts 15:24, Hebrews 7:5, 7;18, 7:19). Jesus was rebuking the hypocritical tithing practices of scribes and Pharisees of the Nation of Israel; if Christians are tithing according to Jesus' description in Matthew 23:23, they would be called "hypocrites" by Jesus.

>>> False claim; "Malachi 3:10 is instructing Christian to tithe."

>> Malachi 3:10 - "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

>> Answer; Malachi 3:10 was written to the Nation of Israel under the Law of Moses. (See Malachi 1:1, 2:1) and must be practiced according to ALL of the Law of Moses (See Malachi 3:7, Malachi 4:4, Deuteronomy 27:26, James 2:10, Galatians 5:3). The New Testament Church us not the Nation of Israel, is not under the Law of Moses (See Acts 15:24, Romans 6:14), and has no mandate or command to tithe anything to anyone. No Apostle commanded or instructed tithing, received a tithe, rebuked any Christians or Church for not tithing, or referred to any New Testament Believer as a "tither." The Old or New Testament records no time or place where God has taken the tithe from the Levites and given it to any New Testament church, pastor, minister and anyone else. (See Numbers 18:20-24.)

>>> False claim; "Jacob tithed before the Law, therefore this proves that Christians should tithe."

>> Genesis 28:22 - "And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee."

>> Answer; NO SCRIPTURE records Jacob actually tithing anything to anyone. Even if Jacob would have tithed, it would have been based ON A VOW HE MADE UP, NOT a commandment or instructions of God. NO SCRIPTURE cites Jacob as tithing, or a reason to tithe, or an example of tithing to be followed, and no scripture instructs Christians to vow to tithe.

>>> False claim; "Abraham tithed before the Law, therefore this proves that Christians should tithe."

>> Hebrews 7:2 - "To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;"

>> Answer; NO SCRIPTURE records Abraham being given a commandment or instructions from God to tithe, or that he tithed by faith, or expected anything back for tithing, or that he did so other than one time to Melchisedec. NO SCRIPTURE cites Abraham as a reason to tithe, or an example of tithing to be followed. The blessing of Abraham comes through Jesus Christ, not through tithing, not through handing over ten percent of your income to anyone. If you want to claim the blessing of Abraham, DO IT HERE; Galatians 3:14 - "That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Tithing before the Law of Moses in no way establishes a tithing requirement after the Law of Moses.

CONCLUSION

> Be wise, heed the Bible warnings;

2 Timothy 4:3-4 - "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

Romans 16:18 - "For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple."

1 Timothy 4:7 - "But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness."

> And, to you false tithing teachers;

2 Peter 2:2-3 - "And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."

ONLY PART OF THE LAW?

ONLY PART OF THE LAW?

So, you believe in keeping PART of the Law (the Law of Moses) in your tithing based on Malachi 3:10, but not ALL of the Law such as this;

Exodus 31:14 - "Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people."

Numbers 15:32-36 - "And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses."

Question; Do you execute non sabbath keepers? Executing non sabbath keepers is part of the Old Testament Law of Moses also; execute any non sabbath keepers lately?

Well, you say, "I don't do that part of the Law, but I do tithe, and I like to quote Malachi 3:10 when I tithe."

Your problem is obvious and simple; Malachi 3:10 must be practiced according to the Law of Moses, or as Malachi wrote, according to "mine ordinances." That is to say, according to "God's ordinances." Did you overlook that fact written to place the practice of Malachi 3:10 under God's ordinances, under the Law of Moses?...

Malachi 3:7 - "Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?"

Malachi emphasizes the point here...

Malachi 4:4 - "Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments."

The New Testament confirms it here...

Hebrews 7:5 - "And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:"

The Book of Malachi, including Malachi 3:10, was written and directed to the Nation of Israel under the Law of Moses (See; Malachi 1:1, 1:6, 2:1, 3:7, 4:4), The New Testament Church is NOT the Nation of Israel and the Church is NOT under the law of Moses (See; Acts 15:24, Romans 6:14, Galatians 3:10) and has NO commandment to tithe anything to anyone.

THE RESULTS OF OBEYING ONLY PART OF THE LAW

Unless you obey ALL of the Law of Moses, this is the result...

Deuteronomy 27:26 - "Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen."

And this...

James 2:10 - "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

And this...

Galatians 5:3 - "For I testify again to every man that is circumcised [i.e., keeping the Law of Moses], that he is a debtor to do the whole law."

The Apostles said this concerning the Law of Moses...

Acts 15:24 - "Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:"

BEFORE THE LAW

"Tithing was practiced before the law," you tell us. Are you sure? Look closely in God's word, you will find no command to any group or person to tithe anything to anyone. Tell us; how does tithing before the Law establish a command to tithe after the Law when there existed NO COMMAND to tithe before the Law? Clearly it does not.

When there existed NO UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLE of tithing before the Law; how did there suddenly become one after the Law? Clearly there is none.t.

Or, as we have stated many times...

NO SCRIPTURE records Abraham being given a commandment or instructions from God to tithe, or that he tithed by faith, or expected anything back for tithing, or that he did so other than one time to Melchisedec, or any other lies and deception taught by false tithing teachers. NO SCRIPTURE cites Abraham as a reason to tithe or an example of tithing to be followed.

NO SCRIPTURE records Jacob tithing anything to anyone. Even if Jacob would have tithed, it would have been based on A VOW HE MADE UP, NOT a commandment or instructions of God.  NO SCRIPTURE cites Jacob as tithing, or a reason to tithe, or an example of tithing to be followed.

CONCLUSION

The New Testament contains no command to tithe, no "universal principle of tithing," no record of Christians tithing, no ordinances of tithing, and clearly ends all tithing which has been abolished...

Ephesians 2:15 - "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;"

MATTHEW 23:23; "OUGHT TO HAVE DONE"

MATTHEW 23:23; "OUGHT TO HAVE DONE"

Matthew 23:23 - "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

THE CONTENT

The context of the "ought to have done" in Matthew 23:23, often quoted by tithing teachers and their so-called "tithers," in a false claim that Jesus is commanding New Testament Christians to "tithe," was IN FACT a commandment to DO the Law of Moses. The phrase "and not to leave the other undone" is also a commandment to DO the Law of Moses.

Have you not read, do you not understand!?...

Or, this?...

Acts 15:24 - "Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:"

Or, this?...

Ephesians 2:15 - "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;"

CONCLUSION

MATTHEW 23:23's "OUGHT TO HAVE DONE" IS NOT A COMMANDMENT FOR CHRISTIANS TO TITHE

Romans 6:14  - "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." -

Galatians 3:24-25 - "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

Galatians 5:4 - "You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace."

>> Additionally;

>> God's commanded tithe was limited to fruits, vegetables and clean animals; agricultural products from the Promised Land of Israel, from nowhere else, from nothing else...

See - Lev. 27:30, 32, Num. 18:27, Num. 18:28, Deut 12:17, Deut. 14:22, Deut. 14:23, Deut. 24:21, Deut. 26:12, 2 Chron. 31:5, 2 Chron. 31:6, Neh. 10:37, Neh. 13:5, Mal. 3:10, Matt. 23:23 and Luke 11:42.

Note: 31 times in 17 verses in the Bible, God's Word states the tithe is declared to be fruits, vegetables and clean animals from the Promise Land, and 14 times that we have listed above, God's Word records the use of money over a long period of time.

>> Verses confirming they had money from income, yet no scriptural reference records money being used for tithing...

See - Genesis 23;12-16, Exodus 38:28, Leviticus 5:15, Leviticus 27:3, Leviticus 27:4, Leviticus 27:5, Leviticus 27:6, Leviticus 27:7, Leviticus 27:16, Numbers 3:47, Numbers 3:50, Matthew 21:12-13, Mark 12:41-42, Acts 8:20.

SIMPLE, CLEAR AND CONCISE

SIMPLE, CLEAR AND CONCISE

Hebrews 7:8 is the tribe if Levi representing the Law of Moses tithing through Abraham to Melchisedec ... ABRAHAM TO MELCHISEDEC ... not a Christian tithing money to a church or modern day pastor. (See; Hebrews 7:9)

The Church of Jesus Christ does not have a command to be as Leivites representing the Law of Moses tithing to Melchisedec, which said Melchisedec is claimed to be the Church authorized to receive tithes claimed to be "tithing to Jesus in Heaven."

Hebrews 7:8 is not a type, shadow or an example to be followed by the New Testament Church in tithing. Hebrews 7:8 is clearly descriptive, not prescriptive. The Levites tithing to Melchisedec has NEVER been cited in God's Word as an example to follow.

In reality, God's purpose of Abraham's tithe was the Levites (in the loins of Abraham), the Law (Hebrews 7:11), tithing to Melchizedek proving the superiority of the Priesthood of Melchizedek over the Levites;

Hebrews 7:7 - "And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better."

CONCLUSION

The transaction in Hebrews 7:8 accomplished what God needed it to accomplish. No further tithing is required, commanded, needed or is of any value.

TITHE LIKE ABRAHAM?

TITHE LIKE ABRAHAM?

To all you people who claim you're "tithing" because, or following the example of Abraham; tell us; why are you not also doing this with your money?...

>> ONE;

Genesis 14:22-23 - "And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:"

NOTE; Abraham did not regard anything of what he had taken during the rescue of Lot (the spoils, Hebrews 7:4) as his own property to keep; "and that I will not take any thing THAT  IS  THINE."

>> TWO;

Abraham did not tithe on his own income or property he had already obtained, his tithe to Melchisedec was limited to the spoils of Lot's rescue;

Hebrews 7:4 - "Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils."

NOTE; "Abraham gave the TENTH OF THE SPOILS."

>> THREE;

Abraham gave part of the spoils of Lot's rescue to the men who helped him do so;

Genesis 14:24 - "Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion."

Are you giving part of your money to anyone helping you obtain it? Why not? Abraham did. Are you not following the example of Abraham?

CONCLUSION

Concluding the rescue Lot, Abraham kept ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the spoils of war he took. Stop making a fool of yourself and displaying your ignorance by telling us "you tithe because Abraham did," or "you tithe because tithing was practiced before the Law of Moses." Stop living in a fantasy world; YOU ARE NOT TITHING AS ABRAHAM DID. And, God has never said to tithe because, or as Abraham did.

Oh, I almost forgot; that Hebrew, Jacob? ...forget it, he never tithed anything to anyone we have any record of. Jacob's offer to tithe was a VOW, not a command to tithe. Nice try, but Jacob can't help you in your foolish quest to support a fake unbiblical modern day "money tithing system" based on nothing more than the deceptive traditions of men which make void the world of God;

"Traditions of men" that nullify the word of God refer to human-made rules, rituals, or doctrines elevated above divine commands, ultimately replacing biblical obedience with empty, man-centric practices...

Mark 7:13 - "Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye."

>> Abraham, Levi and Melchisedec;

Hebrews 7:8-9 - "And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham."

Hebrews 7:8,9 is the Levites / Mosaic Law tithing to Melchisedec; the Church is not the Levites / Law, and has no command to tithe to anyone or any organization.

IT'S REALLY VERY SIMPLE

IT'S REALLY VERY SIMPLE

As we move forward in the Old Testament, tithing became administered by the ordinances; the Law of God; the Law of Moses.

>> Malachi 3:10 says this...

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

>> Malachi 3:7, Malachi 4:4 and Hebrews 7:5 says that tithing must be (and was) performed in obedience to God's ordinances, the Law of Moses, NO OTHER WAY...

"Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?" - Malachi 3:7

"Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments." - Malachi 4:4

"And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:"- Hebrews 7:5

>> Failing to perform Malachi 3:10 tithing according to God's ordinances, the Law of Moses is sin...

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." - 1 John 3:4

>> God, through Jesus Christ has abolished the ordinances, including that of tithing.

Ephesians 2:15 - "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;"

Colossians 2:14 - "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"

OBVIOUS CONCLUSION

Tithing has forever been abolished. No form of tithing continues into the New Testament. There is no such thing as "grace tithing." When God abolishes something under the Law, He doesn't bring it back under grace.

Hebrews 7:18-19 - "For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God."

>> Doing something God has abolished is both unwise and a sin;

Proverbs 1:5 - "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:"

TITHING ABOLISHED FOREVER BY JESUS CHRIST

When God abolishes something, as God has tithing, God has obviously said to us NO MORE TITHING; Lamentations 3:37 - "Who is he that saith and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?"

Tithing... Hebrews 7:18 - "For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof."

TITHING ABOLISHED FOREVER BY JESUS CHRIST

According to God's word, tithing must be done according to God's ordinances. God's ordinances is the Law of Moses. That is to say the flagship scripture verse used by tithing teachers of Malachi 3:10, which reads;

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

...must be carried out and performed in total compliance with God's ordinances.

To attempt to tithe based on Malachi 3:10 outside of, and not compliant with the ordinances of God is sin and blatant disobedience to God's word.

God's ordinances IS THE STANDARD under which Malachi 3:10 MUST be completed;

Malachi 3:7 - "Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?"

"Return unto me" is God commanding that tithing, among other requirements, MUST BE OBEYED according to his ORDINANCES, and in no other way. NOT obeying God's ordinances in regards to the tithe is what God addresses here;

Malachi 3:8-9 - "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation."

God states again that Malachi 3:10 must be performed according to His ORDINANCES, ergo; the Law of Moses;

Malachi 4:4 - "Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments."

HEBREWS CHAPTER SEVEN

In Hebrews 7:5 it states that the tithe was taken according to God's ordinances, the Law of Moses (or "the law");

Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

"according to the law" refers to the sons of Levi taking tithes according to God's ordinances.

THE APOSTLE PAUL TELLS US THIS

In the New Testament God's ordinances, including the tithe ordinances, have been ABOLISHED;

Ephesians 2:15 - "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;"

MOSES, WHO REPRESENTS THE LAW, THE LAW ABOLISHED

2 Corinthians 3:13 - "And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:"

CONCLUSION

The ordinance of tithing has been eternally abolished by Jesus! God's word also tells us this regarding tithing;

Hebrews 7:18-19 - "For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God."

Note; "disannulling," which also means ABOLISHED, CANCELED, DISCONTINUED, ENDED. Tithing is an Old Testament ORDINANCE, now abolished.

The other Apostles said it this way;

Acts 15:24 - "Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:"

The Apostle Paul wrote this;

Romans 6:14 - "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

And, this;

Romans 7:6 - "But now we are DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter."

>> Additionally...

Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek was obviously a one time event (Genesis 14:20). First of all, Abraham did not tithe the one thousand pieces of silver received from Abimelech (Genesis 20:16). Furthermore, he did not teach Isaac and Jacob to tithe despite the claim of monetary tithing proponents. Jacob's vow proves this point (Genesis 28:20-22). Why would someone make a vow if they were already practicing something taught to them? Vows are made for something to be done in the future. Contrary to the monetary tithing teachers, Jacob's vow actually refutes their argument instead of supporting it!

NO SCRIPTURE records Abraham being given a  commandment or instructions from God to tithe, or that he tithed by faith, or expected anything back for tithing, or that he did so other than one time to Melchisedec, or any other lies and garbage taught by false tithing teachers.

HEBREWS 7:8; NOT A REASON FOR CHRISTIAN TITHING

HEBREWS 7:8; NOT A REASON FOR CHRISTIAN TITHING

The tithing referred to in Hebrews 7:8 involved three basic people; Abram (Abraham), Levi and Melchisedec;

Hebrews 7:8-10 - "And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him."

Tithing teachers claim that these three men and their activities involved in tithing are a statement, an example that Christians should follow and "pay tithes;" that is to say, Christians are required to hand over ten percent of their income to a minister or church based on Hebrews 7:8. Such a statement is simply not true and cannot be upheld under close scrutiny.

AN EXAMINATION OF THE THREE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED

>> MELCHISEDEC;

If you are going claim that Melchisedec as a representative of the New Testament is a type (a similitude) of New Testament ministers receiving of tithes, and therefore as priests of the New Testament, ministers should be tithed to, you have created for yourself a big problem; we are ALL New Testament Priests. So, therefore I would like you to send me your tithe as soon as you get your next paycheck. Each New Testament Christian should be tithing to all other New Testament Christians. Why? This is why; we are...

1 Peter 2:9 - "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

Revelation 5:10 - "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."

>> ABRAHAM;

Many tithing teachers claim that we follow the faith of Abraham by "tithing as Abraham did," that we should hand over ten percent of our income to a minister citing Abraham as "the example to be followed."

Among many problems with such a false doctrine is that no scripture states that Abraham "tithed in faith," no scripture in either the Old of New Testament cites Abraham directly as an example of tithing to be followed by Jews, Gentiles or the Church. No Apostle referred to Abraham's tithing as giving authority to any New Testament minister to collect tithes. The Levites had been given that authority, the Church has not;

Hebrews 7:5 - "And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:"

Abraham's tithe to Melchisedec fulfilled a purpose, which was probably unknown to Abraham at that time, that of his tithe to Melchisedec proving the superiority of the Melchisedec priesthood over the Levite priesthood; Hebrews 7:7 - "And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better." Abraham's tithe, "without all contradiction" (cannot be refuted) has accomplished that which God intended it to accomplish. It does not need to be performed over and over again by New Testament Believers, doing so is useless and not commanded.

In the following scripture verses the faith of Abraham is addressed, yet not one of them mentions his tithe to Melchisedec;

> Romans 4:11-12: Identifies Abraham as the father of all who believe (both circumcised and uncircumcised) and calls believers to "walk in the footsteps of the faith" he had.

> Galatians 3:7-9: States that "those who have faith are children of Abraham" and that those who rely on faith are blessed along with him.

> Galatians 3:29: Affirms that if you belong to Christ, you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to the promise.

> Romans 4:22-25: Explains that faith being credited as righteousness was not written for Abraham alone, but also for "us to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead".

> Hebrews 11:8-10: Highlights Abraham's obedience in leaving his country by faith, serving as a model of faith-driven action.

> James 2:21-23: Mentions that Abraham's faith was perfected by his actions (obedience) when he offered Isaac, showing that genuine faith works.

If you will notice; Abraham's tithe to Melchisedec is left out of the above verses! Why would scripture leave out Abraham's tithe? ...because it was not an act of faith, AND NOT SOMETHING TO BE CONTINUED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.

Additionally; not everything Abraham did was an act of faith, or an activity to be followed.

Abraham circumcised over 300 in his household; are we to do the same under the New Testament? NO! In fact, in the 11th Chapter of the Book of Hebrews (commonly referred to as the "faith hall of fame"), no act of tithing by Abraham or anyone's tithing is mentioned. God's test of Abraham's faith was the offering of Isaac, not tithing; Genesis 22:2 - "And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of."

>> LEVI;

In the loins of Abraham we find Levi. Levi represented the Levite priesthood and the Law of Moses (Hebrews 7:11). Levi does not represent the New Testament Church "tithing to Melchisedec," on the contrary, Levi represents an inferior priesthood, now defunct, who's main function was the service at the alter of sacrifice (Numbers 18:21-24), and is no longer valid (Hebrews 9:12, Hebrews 10:1-10 and Hebrews 7:11);

Hebrews 7:5-6 - "And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises."

Levi represented the Law of Moses (Hebrews 7:5, 7:11), not the New Testament Church, which (the Church) is not under the Law of Moses and does not represent the Law of Moses;

Acts 15:24 - "Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:"

Romans 6:14 - "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

CONCLUSION

Hebrews 7:8 does not represent an example of New Testament tithing to be followed. The blessing of Abraham does not come through tithing, but rather through faith in Jesus Christ;

Galatians 3:14 - "That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."

As we have asked previously; Tell us; who under the New Testament has been authorized by God in His word to demand or receive tithes? The answer is NO ONE.
